Where does the gap open?
The gap is not left versus right; it is age. Every bracket says yes, but the share climbs steadily from 55% among under-18s to 69% among people over 45. Whatever people think about being made to vote, the ones who have done it most are the keenest on it.
Country matters more than gender. Men and women are seven points apart; France and India are twelve. Compulsory voting is law in a few countries and a live argument in many; the split here looks like the argument, not the law.
