Privacy Policy

Effective March 12, 2026 · Last updated March 12, 2026

1. Introduction

Peopoll Inc. (“Peopoll”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Peopoll mobile application and related services (the “Service”).

Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described here. If you disagree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the Service.

This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service, which govern your use of the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect several types of information in connection with your use of the Service:

Information You Provide Directly

  • Account details: first name, last name, email address, username, and password when you register.
  • Profile information: date of birth, gender, and country, which are used to generate demographic insights on polls.
  • Profile content: any profile photo, bio, or other content you choose to add.
  • User content: polls you create, votes you cast, comments you write, and any other content you submit.
  • Communications: messages you send to us, including support requests.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: how you interact with the Service, including which polls you view, vote on, or share; features you use; and actions you take.
  • Device information: device type, operating system, and app version, collected to ensure compatibility and deliver push notifications.
  • Push notification tokens: device tokens used to deliver push notifications when you enable them.
  • Log data: IP addresses, access times, and error logs collected for security and operational purposes.

Information from Third Parties

We do not currently acquire personal information about you from third-party sources. If this changes, we will update this policy accordingly.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To Provide and Improve the Service

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Display polls, insights, and other content.
  • Generate anonymised and aggregated demographic insights (age bracket, gender, country) on poll results. These insights are shown in aggregate — your individual identity is never revealed to other users.
  • Enable social features such as following, commenting, notifications, and search.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service.

To Communicate with You

  • Send push notifications about activity on your polls, new followers, and other updates (only with your permission).
  • Respond to your support and legal enquiries.
  • Notify you of important changes to the Service or these policies.

To Personalise Your Experience

  • Tailor the feed, explore, and recommendations based on your activity.
  • Remember your preferences, such as dark mode.

Legal and Safety Purposes

  • Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and other policies.
  • Protect the rights, property, and safety of Peopoll, our users, and the public.

4. Demographic Insights and Anonymisation

A core feature of Peopoll is allowing users to see how different demographic groups vote on polls. Here is how this works:

When you vote on a poll, your vote is stored in our database along with your demographic attributes (age bracket derived from your date of birth, gender, and country). These attributes are combined with other users' responses to produce aggregated statistics.

The insights displayed to users (such as “42% of users aged 18–24 voted Yes”) are always aggregated. No individual user's vote is ever attributed to them by name or username in the insights view.

We derive your age bracket (e.g. “18–24”) from your date of birth and use only the bracket — not your exact birthdate — in insights calculations. Your exact date of birth is never shared with other users.

The insights feature is the primary reason we collect demographic data. Without it, we would not be able to provide the core value of the Service. If you do not want your demographics included in insights, you should not use the Service.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We engage trusted third-party companies to help us operate the Service, including:

  • Supabase (database and authentication infrastructure)
  • Expo (mobile app delivery and push notification services)

These providers access your information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to maintain its confidentiality.

Publicly Visible Information

The following information is visible to other users of the Service:

  • Your username, display name, and profile photo.
  • Polls you create (unless deleted).
  • Comments you post.
  • Your follower and following counts.
  • Your profile bio.

Your email address, exact date of birth, and private account settings are never shared with other users.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Peopoll, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

If Peopoll is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is transferred and subjected to a different privacy policy.

6. Your Choices and Rights

Account Information

You may update your profile information (name, username, bio, photo, notification preferences) at any time through the app settings.

Push Notifications

You can enable or disable push notifications for votes, comments, and follows through the app settings (Settings → Notifications). You can also manage notification permissions through your device's settings.

Privacy Mode

You can set your account to private, which means only approved followers can see your polls and activity.

Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal profile data from our active systems. Aggregated, anonymised data that has been incorporated into poll insights may be retained, as it cannot be de-aggregated.

Data Access and Portability

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccuracies, or request deletion. Please contact us at privacy@forthepeopoll.com.

European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@forthepeopoll.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, disclose, and sell (we do not sell your information). You also have the right to request deletion and to opt out of sale. Contact us at privacy@forthepeopoll.com to exercise these rights.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable period, typically within 30 days.

Some data may be retained longer where required by law, for legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention), or in backups. Aggregated, anonymised insights data has no retention limit as it cannot identify you.

Push notification tokens are deleted when you log out or uninstall the app.

8. Children's Privacy

Peopoll is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. During registration, we verify that users are at least 13 years of age by requiring a date of birth and rejecting registrations from users who are under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account on Peopoll, please contact us immediately at privacy@forthepeopoll.com.

9. International Data Transfers

Peopoll Inc. is based in the British Virgin Islands. Our service providers (including Supabase) may process and store your data in data centres located in the United States and other countries.

By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your own, which may have different data protection standards than your country of residence.

When transferring data from the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms, including Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data.

10. Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text. Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS. Access to our database is restricted to authorised personnel and service providers.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at privacy@forthepeopoll.com.

11. Cookies and Tracking

As a mobile application, Peopoll does not use browser cookies. We use local device storage (via Expo SecureStore) to maintain your login session and app preferences.

We do not use any third-party advertising or behavioural tracking technologies. We do not display advertisements in the app.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email before they take effect.

The “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
